Great Scott! Films was created by me, Fern Scott, to share glimpses into private worlds, and to tell stories that share fresh perspectives on the subjects we think we know. Through my work as a storyteller I want to create work that builds a kinder, gentler, more curious society.
Great Scott! Films is an end to end production company, working across all areas of production and post-production. You can come to us with nothing more than an inkling that a film might be useful to you and you will be guided through the process in safe hands.
I began my professional career as a producer, and now often work as a producer-director or director-editor. Depending on the needs of the project I work with a trusted group of collaborators to deliver quality films for every budget and every screen.
STORYTELLING //
Story is at the centre of every project at Great Scott! Films, from strategy, messaging, to every visual choice, and more than ever in the editing. As well as filmmaking I also write, and edit and produce podcasts.
PRODUCING //
I love to be on a set in any capacity, but especially as a producer. I relish creating calm, stress free environments. As well as producing most of the films on this site, more recently I’ve been working more on fiction projects as a producer and production manager for short films.
FILMING //
For small-scale productions I work as a self-shooting director. For larger productions, I direct and work with a specialist cinematographer, or camera operator.
EDITING //
Films are made in the edit, and editing is the role I enjoy most of all. Every film on this website has been edited by me. Some of the most rewarding projects I’ve worked on are those I’ve come to the project solely as an editor.
